To me, the false mustache is another representation of Hitler’s infantilism, or at least of the caricature I created. Everything from his lack of ability to grow facial hair to his karate desk chop temper tantrums, to his model Third Reich playset and action figures, even to him eating popcorn and drinking coke at the theater and his obsession with Charlie, points to him being stunted in his emotionally and psychologically.

So if the mustache is a symbol of masculinity, then Charlie punching it off Hitler’s face and reclaiming it as his own, well that was intended to be Charlie’s moment of growth and becoming a man.

Because nothing will put hair on your face like punching a Nazi.
