The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, otherwise known as The Special Operations Executive was a secret organization created by Winston Churchill during World War II. They were conceived with the purpose to stop fighting under accepted gentlemanly rules of engagement, and to become Britain’s first black op unit.

Members included Christopher Lee, Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond, and the third incarnation of The Doctor from Doctor Who, Jon Pertwee. Pertwee actually worked alongside Ian Fleming during the war.

To round off the crew, I added the African American singer and dancer, Josephine Baker. During the war, Baker served as a spy for the French Resistance. It doesn’t quite line up, but I thought it was fun to add her a suppose that she was an auxiliary agent for the British.

Obviously, this page is homaging the classic Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis cover for their essential run on Justice League. Giffen is a huge influence on the tone, structure and the process of everything I do.
